Variety had a blast catching this exhilarating showcase during its Broadway run, “It’s the most fun you’ll have in a Broadway theater right now.” The writer went on to add his admiration for Max Martin’s music. “At the very least his catalog is unquestionably impressive — and his songs make for a surprisingly fantastic jukebox musical. It is a jukebox, but it’s a smart one, using the songs in deft, humorous and unexpected ways.

“Easily the best musical of the year” – Forbes

The Guardian also adored the dynamic score and compared the musical to a roaring sing along party, “Really, it’s all about the music – in some ways, the story is a vessel for the songs. It’s a potent reminder of just how prolific, and good, Martin is at this whole pop thing. It feels a little like a karaoke party.” The reviewer continued, “This show has the hallmarks of a pop concert: confetti cannons, cast members flying above the stage or rising from the ground, tightly choreographed group dance numbers, dazzlingly bright lights and colourful sets.”

Over at the AU Review, the writer can’t help but praise the designers for a massively thrilling visual show. “There are confetti and glitter cannons everywhere, beautiful staging, and some stunning costumes that manage to marry all eras into one.” The article end with a note on how audiences can enjoy this riveting jukebox epic, “And it is so much fun, so why not unashamedly sing along to your favourite Backstreet Boys’ song while questioning gender norms, and cheering for a girl who just wants to live a little?”
