Last year, before PJ Harvey started her tour in UK and Europe, she said - “It’ll be a look at all of my material over the years, but with a concentration on the latest album…I think it’ll be a really comprehensive show for all ages of PJ Harvey fans. It’s been a great joy, actually, to play some of those earlier songs. I haven’t played many of them live for years. So, I think it’s gonna be a special show for that reason as well.”
She then teased about doing a tour in North America mentioning “stateside shows due for fall 2024.”
Great news! Harvery officially announced her Fall 2024 North American tour after only hinting at it last year. Aren’t you ecstatic that it is now confirmed?!
The main tour is in support of I Inside the Old Year Dying, which came out last year, will begin. NME said the album was “an immersive return from a modern master.” Said album is her first release since The Hope Six Demolition Project in 2016.
The tour is set to begin on September 11 in Washington DC. Thereafter, it will make stops in New York City, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, and Seattle before concluding on October 14 in Los Angeles.
Harvey released a brand-new music video for "Seem an I" to go along with the news of the tour. The movie, which was shot at Kennel Farm outside of Salisbury, England, and was directed by Colm Bairéad and starred British actor Ruth Wilson.
She has European festival appearances scheduled including those at Primavera Sound, Roskilde Festival, Rock Werchter, and more before the North American leg.
On being asked whether she feels purposeful in going on another tour, Harvey says: “I do. I think I had to go through that questioning. I had to ask myself: Is this still the thing that feels best to put my energies into, and is it the best contribution I have to give? And I think the answer is yes. I think that’s been shown to me during rehearsals and during the making of the new album, where I felt sort of in the place I should be and doing the thing I can do best in this world.”
