& Juliet at Paramount Theatre Seattle

& Juliet, one of this generation's unrivaled musicals is heading to Paramount Theatre, Seattle this nearing July on Wednesday 30th July 2025. Taking inspiration from very powerful source material, Paramount Theatre tackles the demand of having the production of the Shakespeare's well-known fictional tragedy. Shakespeare’s original play has ultimately been famous as one of the most despairing tales across multiple generations, with the central characters' intense devotion for each other leading to their choice to commit suicide. Using William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway as tools in the play itself however, West End's brand-new show, & Juliet, places in a new twist by allowing Juliet to change her own fate in Shakespeare’s classic and focusing on her own coming-of-age story. Choosing to find new experiences with her equally-resolved companions, the cast is launched into a bigger landscape beyond what Juliet and her friends were used to when they arrive in France.

Given that 400 years have passed since Romeo and Juliet, the new play also chose to apply execution that is more appropriate today. To drive its point to the audience, the play promotes a set of numbers borrowed from pop music industry's top producer, Max Martin. The Swedish record producer previously had an idea of immortalizing his songs through theater as well, which prompted the jukebox musical, & Juliet, being created and subsequently premiering in the year 2019. Max Martin was very liberal in the usage of his hits to the musical, expressing how he “wanted every song to feel like it was written for the musical, and to make audiences experience that even if it is a very different medium for his usual work, fans could discover their love for his hits again.” The ongoing musical is headlined with songs from chart-topping artists namely Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, P!nk, and The Backstreet Boys, among others. Thanks to its song choices, the musical was one of the first to gather a diverse and young generation to theater.
