The show covers Hamilton’s career as an America's Founding Father and his active role in the American Revolution and the political and economic history of the early United States. The production debuted in 2015, the musical went on to take home 8 Drama Desk Awards, 11 Tony Awards from 18 nominations, and the Pulitzer Prize in 2016.
Miranda and the cast of Hamilton set out to tell the story of "America then, as told by America now." To do so, Hamilton places minority actors as the American Founding Fathers and other major roles.
