Faye Webster at Paramount Theatre Seattle

Faye Webster has recently released a new album, and we’re obsessed with the 70s-tinged alt-country sounds. The title of the Atlanta twentysomething’s record is inspired by her occasional desire to lose herself amongst concertgoers at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Wanting company and distraction but also blending into the anonymity of a crowd, Faye Webster often booked her ticket to a performance at the very last second. “Going to the symphony was almost like therapy for me,” she says. “I was quite literally underdressed at the symphony because I would just decide at the last moment that's what I wanted to do.”

Underdressed at the Symphony is the indie star’s follow-up to 2021’s I Know I’m Funny Haha. The album features her childhood friend Lil Yachty with “Lego Ring.” Between compositions, Faye Webster re-imagined material from I Know I’m Funny Haha and its incredible predecessor, Atlanta Millionaires Club, with classical arrangements for 2022’s Car Therapy Sessions EP. This trek comes in celebration of the new record. Dropped on March 1 via Secretly Canadian, Underdressed at the Symphony stars previously released hits “But Not Kiss” and “Lifetime.” As well as this huge U.S. and Canada tour, she is also hitting the stage in Oceania, the UK, and Europe in support of this amazing new record.

Over the years, Faye Webster has carved up a bespoke sound that merges country-tinged indie rock with pedal steel guitar and modern R&B production. While the planet may be moving faster and faster and her fanbase is growing bigger and bigger, she continues to sing in an impossibly low-key way for Underdressed at the Symphony. Recorded at Tornillo’s Sonic Ranch Studios with her longtime backing band, her fifth studio album basks in experimentation and playfulness. What are you waiting for?!
