Dance Theatre of Harlem tickets

This may be your last chance to catch a show like this in Seattle for a while! Therefore, you want to make sure that you don’t miss out. The Dance Theater of Harlem Company is holding its second and last show in the Pacific Northwest on Sunday, March 9th, 2025. This show’s going to be taking place at the Paramount Theater. The makeup of this dance company creates unique shows. Currently, they only boast about 20 dancers in their midst. That’s likely going to be the number that they’ll be hovering around in their 2025 tour.

Don’t expect a ton of people to fill the stage at any given time. That can be a real blessing in disguise, though, because it allows viewers to really take in the technique and individual performance that each dancer is showcasing in a way that’s just impossible when 50 people are on stage at one time. Remember, this is the last stop in Seattle. Click the get tickets button to be a part of the show.

At this point in time, it’s not entirely clear what type of show The Dance Theater of Harlem company is going to put on in Seattle on either date. As mentioned, the company has always been known for prioritizing dance quality. Therefore, you can expect to see at least a few duets or even solos. Of course, you’re going to get to see one of the unique elements that The Dance Theater of Harlem is known for, and that is the skin tone tights. Traditionally, ballet dancers wear pink or white tights. When this company was formed in Harlem, they wanted to make sure that their mostly African American base of dancers wore outfits that allowed them to showcase their talents on stage better.

One of the biggest changes they came up with was the idea of wearing mostly brownish tights or colors that matched the skin tone of the dancers. This tradition dates back to the 1970s, and naturally, during that time, it was controversial, but it was also an element that made the company endearing to minority demographics. People who were part of the company at the time also argue that it’s something that helps the dancers esthetically. It allows the audience to not be put off by the color contrast that could develop from a dancer's skin to the tights. Another element that characterizes these shows is that they tend to be much more dynamic than your traditional ballet. Most of the lineup of dancers are much more physically powerful, and they take advantage of that. All of this makes seeing this company live a truly unique experience.

Pretty much the entirety of the Paramount Theater is going to be open for this Sunday night show. If you’re a well-known dance critic, then you know that you want to be as close to the stage as possible. The best way to find a spot in this area is to get your tickets early. This event may not be for a while, or maybe not; it depends on when you’re reading this. Click the get tickets button, though, and find yourself a spot in the theater on March 9th, 2025.
