The British rock band known for aiding in popularizing the shoegazing genre reformed in 2014 after nearly 20 years of inactivity, and now they’re gearing up for a world tour with a dozen dates across the US, Europe, and Australia. When Slowdive’s members officially parted ways in the mid-90s, it was pretty much agreed amongst fans that they would probably never come back. But then, in 2014, they announced their return, and came out with an album a few months later. Most recently, Slowdive released their fifth studio album, Everything Is Alive, which was their second full-length release since reforming in 2014. Now, they’re getting ready for the start of their world tour later this year. They’ll be at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on May 13th, so grab your tickets while you can!

From the very beginning, shoegaze was one of the most ostracized genres of its time. Competing with the likes of Seattle’s grunge and the UK’s Britpop, shoegaze became a sort of scapegoat in the early-to-mid-90s among journalists. In spite of this, albums like My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless and Slowdive’s Souvlaki are entering a new wave of relevance in the present. Slowdive is going into 2025 feeling better than ever. With the release of their most recent album, Everything is Alive, in 2023, they once again proved their artistry remains well intact since their initial rise to fame in the 90s. As for their plans for 2025, they have a dozen shows lined up for part of the year in Europe, the US, and Australia. Their first show will be on March 30th at the Effenaar in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Then, they’ll bounce all over the map, but their last show will be on June 14th at the BEC Arena in Manchester, England.
