By popular demand, Markéta Irglová and Glen Hansard, collectively known and loved as The Swell Season, are returning to North America for a MASSIVE 2025 tour. After opening the trek in Vienna, Virginia on July 11, the duo will take over a number of major cities across the continent including Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, with one major stop in Seattle, Washington!

Since their 2007 breakthrough with the movie Once, The Swell Season have been playing together and touring in every corner of the globe. In 2023, they issued their first new song in more than a decade!! Not long before, they celebrated a mega milestone… the 15th anniversary of the Oscar-winning movie with a history-making anniversary tour.

And now…. The Swell Season is back and bigger than ever before as they announce a North American tour and a brand new album. After teaming up again for a limited number of sold-out performances in March 2022 and a North American road trip a year later, the duo have returned with killer, new tunes. A studio session that started as an effort to create a couple new songs to take with them on the road, ended up generating a full length album, called “Forward.” This is their first full length album in a whopping 16 years, so you can imagine the hype!!

The album features 8 tracks penned by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, who alternate singing the lead. Joined by familiar band members Joe Doyle, Marja Gaynor and Bertrand Galen, and produced by the incredibly skilled Sturla Mio Thorisson, this album boasts a sound that is both familiar and new.

Markéta Irglová and Glen Hansard shot to fame together in Once. The critically acclaimed movie was so popular that it snagged the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song with their song, “Falling Slowly.” The soundtrack was such a hit that it received not one but an impressive two Grammy nominations. From there, the duo went on to drop the revered album, Strict Joy and toured the world. And now, The Swell Season is back to create more memories at the stunning Paramount Theatre Seattle on Wednesday 24th September 2025. Mark your calendars and book your places now!
