It continues to travel across the U.S.A. and the world today. An intriguing twist to the creation of "Six" was that Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss used actual popular singers to model the characters. They used inspiration from artists like Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Adele, Celine Dion, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Alicia Keys during character creation.

"Six" is the tale of the lives of the wives of King Henry the 8th, who was a well-known king of England in the 1500s. During his nearly four decades as king, he married 6 times. His desire to annul his first marriage saw the separation of the Church of England. Many people probably have heard of the story of Henry VIII. However, you may not know the story of his many wives. That’s where "Six" enters the picture.
The musical focuses on the story of these six queens as they sing about their individual experiences with the king. The queens try to decide who had the roughest experience in being married to the king. The queens discuss divorce, rejections, adultery, and even beheadings in a way that amuses you while also touching your heart. There is a relatable twist on the story by incorporating a dating app in a hilarious way.
Eventually, they realize that arguing over who had the most awful experience with Henry VIII is pointless. They eventually decide to think about how Henry VIII robbed them of their individuality. They’re not just the six wives of Henry VIII - they have their individual strengths that deserve celebrating. The Six eventually come together to write new endings to their lives. They achieve their “happily ever afters” that Henry VIII denied them by picturing what their lives would’ve been like without marrying Henry VIII.
