Brittany Howard & Michael Kiwanuka at Paramount Theatre Seattle

Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard and Michael Kiwanuka are joining forces this fall for a highly anticipated North American trek. The talented singer-songwriters are bringing the unique acoustic fingerstyle guitarist Yasmin Williams along for the ride. The What Now Tour is set to kick off on September 29 in Philadelphia, and makes its way to the amazing Paramount Theatre Seattle on October 15. The run comes fresh off the heels of Brittany Howard’s brand new track. In April this year, the megastar released her single “Fire Inside” from the animated Netflix film ‘Thelma the Unicorn,’ and it’s got us singing all day long! She also dropped her sophomore effort, What Now, in February which boasts incredible new hits, including “Earth Sign,” “Another Day,” and “Red Flags.” “Dancefloor bangers, vintage soul, joyous funk… the winningly candid Alabama Shakes frontwoman mixes it up to perfection on her second solo album,” says The Guardian. Brittany Howard is pretty major in the scene at the moment. In addition to this massive co-headlining trek, she’s headlining Chicago’s legendary Pitchfork Music Festival in July.

Also gracing the stage in Seattle is Michael Kiwanuka. With his acoustic craftsmanship, timelessly soulful vocals, and endearing stage presence, this British singer-songwriter is the addition to this must-see concert. The Gold Certified star broke into the mainstream back in 2011 with his own brand of folk, indie rock, and R&B with traditions taken from his roots in Uganda. And Michael Kiwanuka has been a mainstay in the music scene even since! Along the way, Michael Kiwanuka has cooked up a signature sound that is influenced by the likes of Curtis Mayfield, Terry Callier, and Van Morrison. His body of work is so stunning that he scored a Mercury Prize nomination for his debut record, Home Again (2012). It was such a hit that it was crowned the BBC's Sound of 2012. He built the momentum up with 2016's Love & Hate. This sophomore record went gold, peaking at the coveted #1 spot in the UK. His 2019 full-length Kiwanuka was also so popular with fans that it clinched 2020's Mercury Prize.
