After asking a friend about his newborn niece and, And getting the response “she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought "what a great idea for a Theate".
Kimberly Akimbo is a musical that presented Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club NYC on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, widely acknowledged for his ablity for marrying humor and harsh reality.
The tale begins in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teen called Kimberly struggling with a condition that made her 4.5x more than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and adolescence at the same time.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely seen taken care of in her life, in fact, you will see her compassionately consumed by her family’s recklessly, which places her in various emotional burdens including psychological strain, financial troubles, social isolation, and the need for belongingness. Despite this, Kimberly demonstrates great resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and above all high spirits.
