Wizkid has established himself as one of the best and most influential musicians to come out of Africa. His government name is "Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun," and at the age of 11, he formed the group Glorious Five with some church friends, but that would just be the start.
The album's lead single, "Holla at Your Boy," began to bring him mainstream success in 2011, and he signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E.) in 2009. "Tease Me/Bad Guys" and "Don't Dull" were also big hits from the album.
His second album, Ayo, was a smashing success and yielded six hit singles, one of which was "Jaiye Jaiye." After his contract with E.M.E. ended, he went on to work with Drake on the 2016 project "One Dance," which catapulted him to even greater fame and earned him a No. 1 single on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart as well as in fourteen other countries. Wizkid became the first Afrobeats artist to have his name entered into the Guinness Book of World Records thanks to the success of the song.
Now that his fame had spread, RCA Records offered him a multi-album contract. Sounds from the Other Side, his third studio album, was released in 2017, and it featured five new singles, one of which was a collaboration with Drake titled "Come Closer."
Over time, he began working with Calvin Harris and Normani, eventually producing a 2018 single titled "Checklist" that topped the Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart. After winning a Grammy for Best Music Video with Brown Skin Girl, he became an unstoppable force in the music industry.
Made in Lagos, his fourth studio album, was released to widespread acclaim in 2020; it topped the "Billboard World Album Chart" and featured the first Nigerian song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with the title track, "Essence."
Based on his previous performances, the tour in support of Wizkid's most recent and fifth studio album, "More Love, Less Ego," should be nothing short of spectacular. Get your tickets now to guarantee your attendance.
